Washington real estate company sued for allegedly firing employee who reported harassment

Former eXp Realty employee claims position eliminated after reporting supervisor's alleged harassment.

A
former eXp Realty employee, Ashley Golladay, has filed a lawsuit against the company in Whatcom County Superior Court, alleging she was terminated in retaliation for reporting her supervisor's sexual harassment of another employee. The woman claims that after she reported the incident to then-CEO Jason Gesing in 2021, her supervisor David Conord was allowed to retire with a compensation package and later returned to work at eXp.

Golladay alleges that following her report, she was transferred to an unwanted department and eventually had her position eliminated. She signed a separation agreement in March 2023, but now seeks to have it voided, arguing the company misrepresented the grounds for her termination. The lawsuit claims eXp violated Washington state law by retaliating against Golladay for reporting the harassment.

eXp has denied the allegations, stating that they take such claims seriously and believe them to be without merit. The company's current stance is that it remains committed to maintaining a respectful work environment. Conord did not respond to attempts to reach him, while Gesing declined to comment on the specifics of the allegations but emphasized his commitment to creating a safe and inclusive workplace.

Attorneys for Golladay say Conord had a sexual relationship with a subordinate in 2021 and sent shirtless photos to another employee, who felt uncomfortable. The shareholder lawsuit makes similar allegations against Conord, claiming he sent explicit pictures to subordinates. Golladay's lawyers argue that the company prioritized growth over addressing these issues, allowing Conord to return to work after his initial retirement.

The case is part of a growing list of lawsuits and allegations against eXp Realty, which has faced scrutiny for its handling of sexual misconduct claims within the company.
