PORR Hochbau Nord has been awarded the contract for the realisation of a new gas pressure regulating and metering station (GDRMA). The project is being developed on the grounds of a power plant in eastern Hamburg. The client for this infrastructure measure is Hamburger Energienetze GmbH. With the implementation of this project, PORR is contributing to the further development of the Hanseatic city's energy infrastructure and supporting the strategies of the municipal energy suppliers to ensure long-term regional energy supply.
The planned new building comprises a solid reinforced concrete structure. Its dimensions are approximately 23.65 metres in length, 10.65 metres in width, and 10.16 metres in height. The foundation of the construction will be formed by reinforced concrete strip foundations, which will be supplemented by a pile foundation and fitted with a load-bearing reinforced concrete slab. The external design of the façade will feature an external thermal insulation composite system with red clinker brick slips. This choice of material aligns with the existing architectural environment of the site to ensure harmonious integration.
Comprehensive services and special requirements
The present contract for PORR Hochbau Nord covers service phases 5 to 8. This includes the entire detailed design as well as the complete construction execution up to the turnkey handover of the facility. The client places particular importance on a technically high-quality, precise, and solution-oriented execution of the works. At the same time, the defined cost and schedule specifications must be strictly adhered to. PORR was able to convince Hamburger Energienetze GmbH with its professional expertise and proven experience in complex infrastructure construction. This is already the company's second contract at this specific Hamburg power plant location.
Realisation on an active power plant site poses specific requirements for construction execution. Detailed site organisation is essential due to stringent safety regulations. Additionally, the existing crane runway and rail system on the site require precise planning and coordination of all construction work. Work is scheduled to commence in September 2026, with the completion of the new GDRMA expected by November 2027.
With this project, PORR Hochbau Nord is making a significant contribution to the modernisation of an infrastructurally important facility. The undertaking thus supports the ongoing further development of a central location for Hamburg's energy supply.
