Trove Partners, founded in 2024 by property advisors Michael Koeneke and Ian Slater, focuses on helping clients realise their dream home in some of the most exclusive properties in New York City and the Hamptons on Long Island. Ian Slater has been active in residential property consulting for ten years and established himself as a top agent at Compass before founding Trove with Koeneke – a team closely affiliated with the Compass brand.
As part of this team, Slater advises high-net-worth clients and has already handled transactions worth over 1 billion US dollars in New York State during his career. In September, Commercial Observer spoke with Slater as part of its 'Get to Know the Broker' series, which highlights leading residential property agents.
Career Highlights and Personal Insights
When asked about the biggest deals of his career, Ian Slater named a tie: “It’s a tie!” he declared. He referred to the sale of a townhouse in Greenwich Village for 29 million US dollars, as well as the sale of a double-width house Uptown, also for 29 million US dollars. In addition, his team sold a property in Southampton for 112.5 million US dollars.
Slater describes his 'career Everest' as building Trove Partners from the ground up. He started with two people and developed the company into the leading team of its size (13 employees) in New York State. Regarding his biggest influence, Slater named his husband, whom he calls his “Chief Operating Officer”. He stated that his husband repeatedly encouraged him to take bigger risks than he would have dared himself.
Daily Life of a Top Agent
Away from the property business, Slater also shares personal preferences. His preferred Grubhub order is a “Westville Salad”, a choice he himself describes as “boring”. He is currently watching the TV shows “The Beast in Me” and “The Pitt”, admitting that he often lags years behind with films and series.
