University Hospital Münster has commissioned synavision GmbH, a leading provider of digital operational optimisation and technical monitoring, to optimise building technology for two existing buildings and five current new build projects. This collaboration aims to ensure the long-term performance of the property units and minimise operational risks.
synavision's services include technical monitoring in accordance with AMEV Recommendation 178 for all seven properties. This support will continue after commissioning to ensure continuously optimal settings and function of the building systems. An example of this is the Body And Brain Institute, which has been operational since September 2025 and is continuously monitored by synavision.
Importance of early project integration
Dr. Stefan Plesser, Managing Director of synavision, emphasised the relevance of an early project start. He explained that involving synavision already during the construction phase ensures the correct function and setting of complex building technology from the outset. This enables lasting optimisation of energy consumption from the point of completion.
The properties supported by synavision include the East Ward Tower and a data centre. The five new build projects, in which University Hospital Münster is investing a triple-digit million Euro sum, comprise the Medical Research Centre with 34,000 m², the Body And Brain Institute Münster with 4,000 m², a service centre with 13,000 m², a supply centre with 3,000 m² and a study laboratory with 7,000 m² of space.
Sustainability and economic efficiency
Inefficient or incorrectly set building technology in these large-scale projects could lead to significant disruptions and considerable energy loss. Dr. Plesser underscored that effective technical monitoring can achieve energy savings of up to 30 percent, with the investment amortising in less than one year. This contributes not only to economic advantages but also promotes more sustainable building operations.
Martin Pohlmeier from commissioning management at University Hospital Münster highlighted the central role of sustainability in the property projects, particularly for the new builds. Energy consumption was a crucial factor in this regard. He expressed his delight at the collaboration with synavision as an experienced partner who could make a significant contribution to achieving these goals.
