VEDRA Pensions GmbH has strategically expanded its finance function. With effect from 1 September 2026, Roland Böhmer has taken on the position of Head of Finance. This appointment underscores the company's growth strategy and its progressive institutionalisation in the dynamic market segment of pension provision.
In his new role at VEDRA, Mr Böhmer will be responsible for both accounting and controlling within the group of companies. His duties also include the further development of these areas and the financial evaluation of transactions. Mr Böhmer's expertise is the result of a career spanning over 25 years, during which he gained experience with European financial service providers from various perspectives.
Extensive Expertise in the Financial Sector
Roland Böhmer has worked as both a transaction adviser and a transaction manager on the corporate side, as well as an executive in regulated insurance companies. His professional career includes supporting numerous advisory mandates for M&A and capital market transactions at renowned firms such as J.P. Morgan and UBS Investment Bank. A key focus here was on transactions for insurance companies in the German-speaking region.
Mr Böhmer gained direct experience with the British life insurance market, particularly with the established instrument of pension buy-out, as M&A Director at the Aviva insurance group. Before joining VEDRA Pensions, he was Head of Accounting and Controlling at Viridium. There, he was responsible for the group's financial reporting and planning and was significantly involved in all due diligence processes for acquisitions as part of the run-off consolidation strategy.
Tilo Kraus, Managing Director of VEDRA Pensions, commented on the new appointment. He emphasised that the pension buy-out market in Germany is growing, and with it, the demands are increasing. He referred to six transactions realised in the last three months alone. Mr Kraus stressed that Roland Böhmer brings exactly the combination of transaction experience, in-depth accounting knowledge, and investor understanding that VEDRA needs for its next phase of development. Mr Kraus expressed his pleasure at working with Mr Böhmer again after several years.
Roland Böhmer himself expressed confidence regarding market development. He stated his expectation that the de-risking of German company pensions would show a similarly dynamic development as the British market over the past 20 years. This assessment was a key motivation for his move.
