For the winter season, leading establishments in international luxury hospitality are increasingly positioning themselves through specialised spa, retreat and health concepts. Whether in high-altitude Alpine locations or along Mediterranean coastlines, high-quality relaxation and spa infrastructure is developing into a key differentiator in the luxury segment.

Alpine retreats in Bavaria and Austria

In Bavaria, Das Kranzbach relies on an exposed, secluded setting at 1,030 metres above sea level. Located away from through traffic and tourist hubs, the property features a bathhouse with indoor and outdoor pools, sauna areas and a Japanese onsen. An architectural highlight is the Meditation House in the forest, designed by Kengo Kuma, which provides an architectural setting for yoga and meditation classes.

In Austria, Hotel Post Bezau in the Bregenzerwald features a distinct profile. Its Susanne Kaufmann Spa combines skincare expertise with programmes for detoxification, exercise and nutrition. The hotel was named "Austria’s Best Wellness Retreat 2026" at the World Spa Awards 2026. Also located in the Alpine region is Rosewood Schloss Fuschl on the shores of Lake Fuschl in the Salzkammergut. Its Asaya Spa uses the setting between the lake and mountain scenery for regenerative heat and water experiences, as well as structured wellness offerings.

Medical diagnostics and Mediterranean destinations

With a usable area of around 4,300 square metres, Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay on the Moroccan Riviera features Le Medi-Spa. Considered the first medical spa of its kind in Morocco, it ranks among the largest facilities in this segment on the African continent. The complex brings together medical diagnostics, device-based treatments and tailored programmes to optimise metabolism, sleep quality and stress management.

On the Spanish Mediterranean coast, SHA Spain pursues a focus on scientifically supported preventive medicine. Programmes such as Advanced Longevity combine modern laboratory diagnostics with regenerative treatments, targeted nutrition and mental rest to safeguard vitality and health over the long term. The line-up of Mediterranean destinations is complemented by the Pharomatiq Spa at Maslina Resort on the Croatian island of Hvar. Set amidst pine forests and landscaped gardens on the Adriatic coast, the resort focuses on regionally inspired treatments, exercise programmes and yoga.
