The DERTOUR Group, a significant player in the tourism sector, is significantly expanding its hotel portfolio. It recently announced the acquisition of the remaining 25.1 per cent of shares in DSR Hotel Holding from Deutsche Seereederei. This transaction, which becomes effective on 1 August 2026, establishes the DERTOUR Group as the sole owner of the hotel company.
DSR Hotel Holding manages a portfolio of 34 holiday hotels across Germany, Austria and Italy. The established brands of the holding include A-ROSA, aja, HENRI, Urban Nature, and MIRA Hotels & Resorts. Additionally, traditional individual properties such as Hotel NEPTUN and Hotel Louis C. Jacob are integrated into this portfolio. These properties are specifically geared towards guests who prefer land-based travel.
Strategic realignment of both companies
The acquisition is a result of an existing partnership between Deutsche Seereederei and the DERTOUR Group. Since 2021, both companies have jointly managed the hotel business. The DERTOUR Group had successively increased its stake to 74.9 per cent in the subsequent years before now taking full control. This step allows Deutsche Seereederei to consciously withdraw from the operational hotel business in order to focus its corporate strategy on the development of new tourism concepts.
Horst Rahe, managing partner of Deutsche Seereederei, stated that handing over the successfully built-up hotel business creates room to concentrate on the development of new tourism business models. He emphasised the continuation of the partnership with the DERTOUR Group for suitable projects.
Christoph Debus, CEO of the DERTOUR Group, highlighted that the complete takeover creates a clear and reliable foundation for the further development of DSR Hotel Holding and its brands. He also praised Horst Rahe's entrepreneurial work in shaping the high-quality hotel and brand portfolio.
Deutsche Seereederei's focus on future tourism concepts
Deutsche Seereederei will henceforth direct its expertise towards the conception, development, and market launch of new offerings in the tourism and leisure segment. This is against the backdrop of a changing travel market, characterised by factors such as digitalisation, artificial intelligence, stricter sustainability requirements, and altered mobility preferences. The ability to react early to changes in travel behaviour and develop products from them is underlined as a core competence of the company.
