Düsseldorf's aviation hub marks the opening of a specialised training centre for Eurowings. On 9 September 2026, the airline, in collaboration with Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT), established the new Crew Training Centre at Sirius Business Park Düsseldorf-Airport. This centre is designed for the joint training of cabin and cockpit crews at a specially developed location.

The area used for this purpose spans approximately 2,000 square metres, which Sirius Facilities GmbH leased to Eurowings. Eurowings was solely responsible for the interior fit-out of the training rooms and the training hall. In addition to modern classrooms, the facility features a separate training hall, designed to meet the specific requirements of training operations.

Significant Location Decision

For Sirius Facilities GmbH, the establishment of Eurowings represents a significant letting success at the site. The choice of Sirius Business Park by a company with such specialised space requirements underlines the attractiveness of the location and the suitability of the spaces beyond traditional office or warehouse uses. Rüdiger Swoboda, Managing Director of Sirius Facilities, emphasised that Eurowings' decision for this location was a testament to trust, as a training centre for aircraft crews has fundamentally different space requirements than conventional commercial properties.

The immediate proximity to Düsseldorf Airport, which is crucial for the operation of a Crew Training Centre, was cited as the primary criterion for the choice of location. The facility is located just 1.1 kilometres from Düsseldorf Airport. The infrastructure is complemented by excellent motorway access, with the A52 2.5 kilometres away and the A44 3.7 kilometres away. A bus stop is located directly opposite the business park, further supporting accessibility.

Grand Opening and Operation

The official inauguration of the new Crew Training Centre took place on 9 September 2026. As part of the opening ceremonies, a symbolic ribbon cutting was performed and tours of the training building and training hall were offered. The centre was realised through the cooperation of Eurowings, Lufthansa Aviation Training, as well as various departments and project partners.
