The events company Glasshouses is establishing its flagship venue in Lower Manhattan, Glasshouse Downtown, at the base of 3 World Trade Center. The company announced on Thursday the signing of a long-term lease for 70,000 square feet at 175 Greenwich Street.

This address is located within the Westfield World Trade Center complex, owned and operated by the Parisian development company Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW). Geoff Mason, Executive Vice President for US Development and Operations at URW, commented that this was a pivotal moment for Westfield World Trade Center and the entire WTC campus. He added that Westfield World Trade Center was evolving into an unparalleled destination, as Glasshouses brings its premium event spaces to Lower Manhattan and American Express establishes its new global headquarters on the campus.

Anthony Dattoma and Chris Mansfield of CBRE represented URW in the negotiations, as stated by the landlord. It is unclear whether Glasshouses worked with an external broker. A request for comment to a CBRE spokesperson initially went unanswered. The exact rent for the venue was not disclosed, but the fit-out will require significant investment.

The space spans two full floors of Tower 3 and is designed to accommodate nearly 1,500 guests. The venue will host various events, including corporate gatherings, conferences, non-profit galas, productions, and other large-scale social occasions. Alex Holiday, co-founder and partner of Glasshouses, stated that the execution of this long-term lease at the World Trade Center represents a crucial milestone for his company. Completion of the design and construction is planned for 2028.

Glasshouses has already established several other successful venues in New York City. These include Glasshouse Chelsea at 545 West 25th Street, The Glasshouse at 660 12th Avenue in the Hell’s Kitchen district, and GH on the Park at 54 West 40th Street in Midtown.
