FOX Living, a subsidiary of FOX Real Estate, has announced the start of construction for a new residential project in Braunschweig-Nord. A building complex is being erected at Lampadiusring 8, in the Nordanger development area, which will comprise a total of 189 apartments following the Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) concept. The gross floor area of the project amounts to approximately 6,000 square metres.
Completion of this project is scheduled for September 2027. The residential offering is primarily aimed at national and international students, apprentices, and young professionals. The apartments will be compactly designed and of high quality, each featuring a combined living and sleeping area, a private kitchen, and a bathroom. Additionally, communal areas are planned to foster interaction among residents. An underground car park and numerous bicycle parking spaces complement the offering.
Location and Target Group
Braunschweig is establishing itself as one of Germany's leading technology and research hubs. The city is characterised by a high density of students, a growing proportion of international students, and stable economic development. The chosen location of the project offers the target group an advantageous position: Braunschweig University of Technology is within walking distance, and there are good connections to public transport and short distances to shopping facilities.
Mathias Grüning, Managing Director of FOX Living, explained that the Braunschweig project marks the concrete implementation of further urgently needed housing for young people. He emphasised that Braunschweig represents an important building block in the company's expansion of its PBSA portfolio at selected German university locations. The company's strategy is to gradually invest in specific projects, thereby creating a growing offering for students, apprentices, and young professionals.
Strategic Orientation of FOX Living
Germany is one of Europe's largest university markets, yet it faces a structural shortage of modern PBSA offerings. FOX Living addresses this supply gap with a scalable platform approach at selected university locations. The company aims to build a Germany-wide PBSA platform with the goal of delivering up to 1,000 apartments annually. The project in Braunschweig represents a concrete step in implementing this corporate strategy.
Further projects are already in preparation. As part of this expansion strategy, plots of land have already been acquired in Osnabrück and Hanover to further expand the portfolio and meet the demand for student accommodation in Germany.
