reconcept GmbH, specialising in project development and capital investments in the renewable energy sector, is intensifying its activities in the international market for battery storage. To finance these ventures, the company is issuing the bond "reconcept BatterieSpeicher Global" (ISIN: DE000A5GS628).
The bond is intended for the financing of battery storage projects (Battery Energy Storage Systems, BESS) in the core markets of Germany, Finland, Canada, and Spain. The issue volume is up to 10 million EUR, with an interest rate of 7.0 percent per annum. The term extends from 4 August 2027 to 4 August 2032. The offering period begins on 8 October 2026, and subscriptions are possible from an amount of 1,000 EUR.
Growth market for battery storage
With this new issue, reconcept is positioning itself in a dynamically expanding market segment. Battery storage enables the absorption of surplus electricity from solar and wind farms and its demand-driven feeding into the grid. Growth in this area is primarily driven by the expansion of renewable energies, as the increasing share of solar and wind energy in the electricity mix increases the need for systems to balance fluctuations in generation and consumption. At the same time, falling battery costs improve the economic conditions for new storage projects.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) identified battery storage as the fastest-growing energy technology in the power sector in its "Global Energy Review 2026". Approximately 108 Gigawatts (GW) were newly installed globally in 2025, representing an increase of around 40 percent compared to the previous year. By the end of 2025, the worldwide installed battery storage capacity was already eleven times higher than in 2021. Karsten Reetz, Managing Director of reconcept GmbH, highlighted that battery storage is developing into an independent pillar of the energy transition and a significant growth area. He emphasised the importance of securing suitable sites and grid connections early on to develop valuable, ready-to-build projects from them.
International project pipeline and use of funds
reconcept has an international BESS pipeline with secured project rights of approximately 3,000 MW. In Finland, BESS projects totalling 1,200 MW are under development. The Canadian BESS pipeline comprises around 550 MW. The Spanish market shows high dynamism, driven by strong solar power generation and the demand from data centres. Here, Co-Located BESS in combination with solar parks of approximately 300 MW, as well as standalone large-scale battery storage of around 450 MW, are planned. In Germany, the planned BESS capacity amounts to approximately 400 MW.
The governments of the core markets support the expansion of renewable energies and thus indirectly also battery storage. Germany aims to cover 80 percent of its gross electricity consumption from renewables by 2030. Finland has legally enshrined climate neutrality by 2035, and Canada expects electricity demand to increase by up to 85 percent by 2050. A draft regulation in Spain from August 2026 stipulates that new data centres must cover at least 80 percent of their electricity needs from renewable sources. Christiane Kaufholt-Mecke, also Managing Director of reconcept, explained that battery storage is becoming a crucial component of electricity supply due to increasing electricity demand from electrification and energy-intensive industries.
The net issue proceeds of the "reconcept BatterieSpeicher Global" bond are intended for the development, construction, operation, management, financing, and sale of commercial and industrial energy storage solutions. This particularly includes battery energy storage systems (BESS) and other storage technologies, including hybrid and co-location projects, primarily in conjunction with solar and wind farms.
