The Lindhorst Gruppe has concluded a lease agreement with MediaMarktSaturn for the newly developing Ems-Quartier in Meppen. With this agreement, Europe's largest electronics retail chain returns to Meppen after seven years, expanding its regional offering. MediaMarktSaturn's new retail space will span over 1,000 square metres on the ground floor of the Ems-Quartier.
The future location is situated in direct proximity to established retailers such as Deichmann, Rewe, and dm-drogerie markt. MediaMarktSaturn's product range includes modern consumer electronics, computer and communication technology, household and DIY products, as well as supplementary offerings in the areas of mobility, leisure, and multimedia.
Angelina Graudons, Managing Director of Ems-Quartier Meppen GmbH, commented on the significance of the new tenant. She emphasised that MediaMarkt, a well-known anchor tenant with an interregional reputation, is returning to the city. MediaMarkt's decision, along with the return of Deichmann and Woolworth and the establishment of dm-drogerie markt, is interpreted as a clear sign of confidence in the Ems-Quartier concept. It will create an attractive mix of established brands and new offerings, making the Ems-Quartier a versatile destination for the people of Meppen.
Carsten Geilert, Chief Operating Officer at MediaMarktSaturn Germany, highlighted that the reopening in Meppen closes a gap between Papenburg, Nordhorn, and Rheine, offering added value for the city and the region. He spoke of a firm conviction in physical retail, which underpins the “Moments of Trust” strategy. The goal is to create reliable moments for customers where personal advice, products, and services can be experienced.
Even before the project started, tenants such as B&B HOTELS, REWE, Deichmann, and the Emsland Music School were confirmed for the Ems-Quartier. Since then, the tenant portfolio has been expanded by the return of Woolworth and the acquisition of new tenants including dm-drogerie markt, a fitness studio, and a k-Kiosk offering a wide range of tobacco, lottery, snacks, and press items.
