The gambino group is continuing its expansion strategy and has announced the opening of three new hotel properties by spring 2027. This expansion includes the gambino hotel GOETHE26 in Munich, the flax memmingen airport, and the gambino hotel BAMBERG, increasing the company's portfolio by 359 rooms across three Bavarian regions.
The gambino hotel GOETHE26 in Munich city centre will lead the openings in December 2026. The property, a comprehensively refurbished existing building, will comprise 69 rooms. It incorporates a comfortable lobby and a streamlined service concept, positioning itself near the main railway station, Theresienwiese, and Marienplatz. The reorientation emphasises sustainability and resource conservation, aiming to minimise the CO2 footprint per overnight stay. A traditional restaurant is not planned; instead, guests are encouraged to utilise the dining options in the hotel's vicinity.
The opening of das flax memmingen airport will follow in February 2027. This second property of the "das flax hotels" brand is being built directly opposite the Memmingen Airport terminal and will provide 144 rooms. The concept includes spacious common areas, a lobby with a bar and snack concept, and a rooftop terrace with views of the runway. The target group comprises air travellers, business travellers, and holiday guests.
Strategic Alignment and Brand Positioning
The final opening in March 2027 is the gambino hotel BAMBERG. This hotel features 146 rooms, including family rooms, and a lobby with an adjoining outdoor terrace. Its proximity to the historic old town makes it attractive for both business and leisure travellers.
With these three projects, the gambino group underscores its expansion strategy, which focuses on economically strong locations in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. The hotel concepts are designed to meet the requirements of business and leisure travellers. The gambino hotels are positioned in urban city locations, while the "das flax hotels" brand targets high-traffic locations such as airports and motorways.
Sabrina Gambino-Kreindl, Managing Director of the gambino group, emphasised that each opening represents a commitment to quality, sustainable development, and modern hospitality oriented towards guests' needs. Alessandro Gambino, also Managing Director, highlighted that these projects consistently strengthen their presence in Southern Germany. He explained that they rely on individual hotel concepts that harmoniously integrate into their surroundings while bearing the signature of their brands, creating places where guests feel welcome.
