HOCHTIEF has received the order from NTT Global Data Centers to build a data centre in Berlin. The project, with a total volume in the high three-digit millions of euros, involves the realisation of a facility with a capacity of 36 MW. Construction work will be carried out by an integrated team from HOCHTIEF Infrastructure and Turner, including its subsidiary Dornan.

Planning envisages construction starting in summer 2026, with the first data halls slated for handover in 2028. Full commissioning of the complex is planned for 2029. This construction project underscores the ongoing expansion in the digital infrastructure sector.

Juan Santamaría, CEO of HOCHTIEF, emphasised the company's strategic focus on digital infrastructure and the strengthening of its market position in this context. He highlighted the consistently high demand for data centre capacity in Germany, which is considered conducive to economic growth and innovation. The bundling of expertise from HOCHTIEF Infrastructure and Dornan positions the consortium advantageously for this development.

Peter Hingott, Chief Executive Officer of HOCHTIEF Infrastructure, explained that the award of the contract was based on sound market knowledge from regional units. Implementation will be carried out by an international and integrated team that can draw on HOCHTIEF Infrastructure's specific experience in such complex construction projects. Micheál O’Connor, Group Managing Director of Dornan, added that Dornan brings specialised mechanical and electrical engineering expertise, which is crucial for the successful realisation of such a data centre.

The contract includes the construction of a three-storey data centre with 36 MW capacity and an adjacent four-storey office building. The scope of services includes all electrical and mechanical engineering works, as well as the implementation of state-of-the-art occupational safety and management systems. These aspects are essential for the operation of such complex and energy-intensive facilities.

The awarding of this contract reflects current market development, in which data centres play a central role in digital transformation. HOCHTIEF secured new orders for data centres worth EUR 16.8 billion in 2025. This segment now accounts for 21 per cent of the company's total order book, demonstrating the growing importance of this sector in the portfolio of real estate and construction companies.
