nn Rutherford's former Beverly Hills estate, a French Revival-style residence known as Rutherford House, has hit the market for $42 million. The actress, who played Carreen O'Hara in "Gone With the Wind," lived at the property with her husband, television producer William Dozier, for decades.
Dozier was behind popular TV series like "Batman" and "The Green Hornet," while Rutherford starred alongside Mickey Rooney in the "Andy Hardy" film series. The couple frequently hosted celebrity weddings at their home, dubbed Greenway Chapel.
Built in 1938 by renowned architect Paul R. Williams, who designed homes for Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball, and Barbara Stanwyck, among others, Rutherford House boasts five bedrooms, nine full bathrooms, and two partial bathrooms across its 13,678 square feet. The estate sits on over half an acre of land.
The main entry features a sweeping staircase and herringbone-patterned wood floors, while the foyer opens to a formal dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the grounds. The marble kitchen boasts white-painted cabinets, a mosaic-tiled ceiling, and stainless steel appliances.
The primary suite is located on the second level, featuring two marble bathrooms, oversized closets, and a separate lounge area with garden views. A back pavilion leads to an oval-shaped pool and a separate pool house with an outdoor bar and spa.
Rutherford House was last sold for $27.625 million in 2018. The estate is listed by Jacob Dadon of Sotheby's International Realty – Beverly Hills Brokerage as a "one-of-a-kind residence" that blends old Hollywood glamour with modern luxury.
