Bill Ackman's Central Park Co-op Sells at Reduced Price

The unit inside the Tony Beresford had previously listed for $9.5 million.

B
illionaire investor Bill Ackman is poised to part with one of his prized possessions, a sleek Upper West Side apartment in the iconic Beresford building. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom co-op at 211 Central Park West has entered contract after being listed for $9.5 million – a significant discount from its initial $11.5 million ask.

Acquired by Ackman in 2017 for a record-breaking $13.5 million, the nearly 3,000-square-foot unit boasts newly renovated features like 10-foot ceilings and breathtaking Central Park views. The sale is part of Ackman's broader effort to simplify his Manhattan real estate portfolio.

Ackman has been connected to the Beresford since 2006, when he purchased a 17th-floor co-op with his then-wife Karen for $26 million. Following their separation, Ackman transferred that unit to Karen in 2018 for $15 million. He now resides on West 77th Street with designer Neri Oxman.

The sale of this unit comes as Ackman navigates the dynamic real estate market, which has seen him list two apartments in the Beresford for a combined $19.9 million last November. The second unit remains on the market, listed at just under its $8.5 million purchase price.
