BA player Dennis Schröder is renting a six-bedroom home in Red Hook's Van Brunt Street for $40,000 a month with an option to buy at $14 million. This would set a record for the neighborhood, where the most expensive sale was $4.58 million for a townhouse on Beard Street in January 2023. The Van Brunt Street residence spans three floors and runs entirely on solar power, featuring a private garage, pool, and terrace.
Schröder's potential home purchase comes as he navigates his final year with the Nets, who may trade him despite his desire to stay long-term. He has expressed a wish to be a veteran leader, showing young players how to play as a team. Schröder joined the Nets earlier this year in a trade that sent Spencer Dinwiddie and Thaddeus Young to Toronto.
The home's asking price of $14 million is notable, considering it last traded for $1.7 million in 2013. If Schröder buys at this price, he would be setting a new record for the neighborhood. Eric Sidman of Compass' Hudson Advisory Team represents the seller, while Terrence Harding of Compass represents Schröder. The NBA's regular season begins on October 22.
