uxury real estate agent and interior designer Jeff Blasingame combines his dual careers to create bespoke spaces that reflect his clients' lifestyles. Based in Orange County, California, he has spent nearly two decades navigating residential transactions and has developed a distinctive approach to design.
For a recent project in Indian Wells Country Club, Blasingame's clients, a couple from Washington state, asked him to redesign their midcentury vacation home after closing on the property. The result is a warm and textural retreat that reflects their Pacific Northwest sensibilities while infusing the tranquil essence of the desert.
The front entry features custom rubbed bronze handles sourced from Rocky Mountain Hardware in Idaho, mounted onto sleek back plates that cover holes from previous locks and deadbolts. Cylindrical outdoor sconces echo the rubbed bronze finish, while Blasingame's landscape design softens the sharp perpendicular lines of the double doors.
In the living room, Blasingame encourages his clients to factor in future upgrades when making an offer. Custom furniture built to scale lends an effortless sense of proportion to the space, including a marble coffee table with a custom bronze base and bespoke sofa upholstered in Holly Hunt fabric. A 9-foot-long wood and fabric wall sculpture by Greek artist Rania Schoretsaniti adds visual interest.
The kitchen features a balanced and modern aesthetic achieved by pairing soft black quartzite backsplash with the existing cabinetry, which was reconfigured to include flamed and honed black granite. Restaurant-quality refrigeration units inherited from the previous owner remain a standout feature in this true chef's kitchen.
In the primary suite, Blasingame focused on layering comfort-inducing textures in a hushed absence of color. A rift oak headboard and New Zealand wool carpeting provide a placid foundation for custom pillows, a cashmere bolster, and a raw silk bedspread. The nubby texture of a custom shearling bench at the foot of the bed adds warmth and invitation.
The pool area features limestone coping, barbecue surround, and custom fire pit in a tone that ties into the home's Italian porcelain flooring. Blasingame's landscape design incorporates an outdoor shower cleverly tucked into a verdant hedge.
In the powder room, Blasingame repeated the black granite from the kitchen island for the vanity and paired it with a custom mirror crafted by a London glass and metal workshop. Handcrafted brass sconces complement the bronze sink bowl, creating a cohesive narrative within the space.
Blasingame's approach to design emphasizes retaining existing elements where possible, as budgets can easily spiral out of control. By layering subtle textures and neutral palettes, he creates warm and welcoming spaces that reflect his clients' desires and lifestyles.
