Energy investor acquires land along planned highway corridor

Dallas oilman's real estate firm acquires 375-acre parcel in Grayson County.

B
en Weber Jr.'s real estate investment firm, Texas Republic Management, has acquired a 375-acre parcel in Grayson County from Midas Global Investments. The site is located along the planned Dallas North Tollway extension, northwest of Gunter, making it an attractive location for future growth.

The property was part of the 1,215-acre Double Platinum Ranch tract that Midas purchased from Walton Global in 2022. Previous plans indicated that up to 7,000 homes could be built on the site, catering to Grayson County's growing population, which has increased by over 8% since 2020.

Texas Republic Management plans to hold the property for three to five years and is zoned for mixed-use development. The firm, founded by Ben Weber Jr., has been expanding its portfolio across Collin, Denton, and Grayson counties, with over 1,000 acres under contract for development.

Infrastructure projects like the Dallas North Tollway extension and the Collin County Outer Loop are bridging the gap between rural and urban areas, making northern cities more accessible. This trend is driving growth in the region, with major developments including Celina's Legacy Hills project, Lake Texoma's Margaritaville resort, and the Silicon Prairie region between McKinney and Sherman.

Texas Republic Management's Rene Elgersma stated that these key drivers were a significant factor in their decision to expand their holdings.
