eorgia’s Department of Corrections has set the execution of Stacey Humphreys for 7 p.m. on Dec. 19. The 52‑year‑old, who was convicted of malice murder for the 2003 killings of real‑estate agents Cyndi Williams (33) and Lori Brown (21), will be the first person executed in the state this year.
On Nov. 3, 2003, Humphreys entered a sales office in a model home for a new subdivision in Powder Springs, a suburb about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta. He forced the two women to strip, demanded their bank PINs, then shot them. He also stole their driver’s licenses, bank and credit cards. At the time, Humphreys was on parole for a 1993 theft conviction and had been released from prison 13 months earlier.
Witnesses reported seeing a man matching Humphreys’ description at the office and a black Dodge Durango parked nearby. Police tracked him to his Dunwoody home, but he fled. A high‑speed chase led to his arrest in Wisconsin. In the rented Jeep he used to escape, officers recovered a Ruger handgun that fired the 9‑mm bullets that killed the women. DNA from the gun matched Williams, while blood in Humphreys’ truck matched Brown.
Georgia carries out executions with the sedative pentobarbital.
