n a stunning rebirth, the iconic Raleigh Hotel on Miami's South Beach is undergoing a $1 billion transformation. This Art Deco gem, where Robin Williams and Nathan Lane brought their legendary performances to life in "The Birdcage," will soon be reborn as Rosewood The Raleigh.
A decade of neglect followed by Hurricane Irma's devastating blow in 2017 had left the hotel's heyday behind it. But developer Michael Shvo saw an opportunity to revive this architectural treasure and restore its former glory. Renowned architect Peter Marino has given the 60-key hotel a fresh new look, while a 17-story residential tower next door will host 40 coveted waterfront residences.
These luxurious homes boast expansive terraces, stone flooring, and bathrooms with refrigerators for beauty products – a true indulgence. Prices range from $10 to $150 million, making these units among the most exclusive in Miami. The revamped hotel will continue to offer high-end amenities like a full spa, fitness center, and private beach club.
The property's rich history is undeniable, having hosted A-listers like Audrey Hepburn and Madonna in its cabanas. Even Karl Lagerfeld premiered Chanel's resort line along the iconic coat-of-arms pool in 2008. The hotel's landmark status was cemented in 1979, making it a beloved fixture on Miami Beach.
Rosewood Hotels will manage this luxurious oasis, bringing a new era of sophistication and elegance to the Raleigh Hotel. With move-in day expected in late 2027, these residences are already generating buzz – with $250 million in pre-sales so far, mostly from cash offers. This impressive feat is a testament to the allure of Miami's luxury real estate market, even in a softening housing market.
