ccording to a recent report from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), Boston and Kansas City are among America's top 10 housing market hot spots for 2025. The report predicts that home buyers will have more success next year due to increased inventory, stable mortgage rates, and continued job and income growth.
Boston, known for its high housing prices, is included in the list despite this reputation. NAR expects mortgage rates to stabilize near 6% in 2025, allowing a greater number of home buyers to enter or return to the market. The report projects 4.5 million existing-home sales next year and a median existing-home price of $410,700, with a 2% increase from previous years.
Kansas City stands out for its affordability and competitive financing options. With an average house price of around $234,000, one in three millennials can own a home in the metro area. The city's housing market is also seeing growth, with nearly half of all home sales coming at less than the asking price in October.
Other cities on the list include Charlotte, North Carolina, which has seen robust job growth and more affordable housing costs; Grand Rapids, Michigan, known for its vibrant downtown and outdoor activities; Greenville, South Carolina, a charming city with a walkable downtown; and several other metropolitan areas. The NAR analyzed various economic, demographic, and housing factors to determine the top 10 markets to watch in 2025.
