he iconic "Home Alone" house, a 10-bedroom property at 671 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, has sold for $5.5 million to an undisclosed buyer. The sale price of approximately $1,080 per square foot represents a 4.7% increase over the asking price of $1,030 per square foot. The buyers, who were represented by Lori Nieman with @properties Christie's International Real Estate, are eager to preserve the home's legacy.
The sellers, Trisha and Tim Johnson, purchased the property for $1.6 million in 2012 after it had been vacant since its appearance in the 1990 film. They invested significant time and resources into renovations, expanding the home by about 25% to 5,100 square feet and adding features such as an indoor sports court.
The sale is one of Chicago's priciest suburban residential transactions this month and marks the second high-end property to sell in Winnetka so far this year. The area has seen increased demand for luxury homes, but not all sales result in a profit.
