The Niersberger Group has secured another contract for the serial refurbishment of cooperatively owned flats. This project concerns 48 residential units of Baugenossenschaft Ansbach, located in three buildings at Theodor-Alt-Weg 1-3 & 5-9 and Hans-Thoma-Weg 18-22. The refurbishment measures aim to achieve the EH55 energy efficiency standard.
Niersberger is acting as the general contractor for this project, combining planning and execution. The measures include the installation of a highly insulated timber facade using prefabricated frame elements, the fitting of new triple-glazed plastic windows, and the renewal of the roof covering and balcony systems. Furthermore, a comprehensive modernisation of the building's technical equipment is planned.
René Fabian, Managing Director of the Niersberger Group, highlights the significance of serial refurbishment. He emphasises that this method, which provides planning and execution from a single source, is a decisive factor for energetically modernising housing stocks more efficiently, economically, and with consistently high quality.
Scope of Measures and Schedule
The modernisation of the building technology includes a new heating system with a district heating network for the three building complexes, the renewal of heating, sanitary, and electrical installations, as well as the provision of fibre optic infrastructure for each residential unit. The planning phase is scheduled for June to November 2026. The execution of the refurbishment works will begin in March 2027 and is slated for completion in December 2028.
Christoph Wenzl, Commercial Director of Baugenossenschaft Ansbach, founded in 1909, underscores the economic and innovative dimension of serial refurbishment. He describes cooperation with a full-service provider that utilises regional production as the most effective method for achieving climate neutrality for existing properties. Markus Zahner, Technical Director of the cooperative, adds that implementation offers ecological and economic advantages and also strengthens the regional economy. The use of regional expertise and production sites promotes local value creation and supports sustainable development.

The Niersberger Group contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions by sourcing material deliveries for the refurbishment from its own plant in Lichtenau, ensuring low CO2 emissions across the entire project. Niersberger is also a founding member of the German Alliance for Serial Refurbishment (DASS), an association of leading total solution providers in Germany that promotes the market ramp-up of serial refurbishment in politics and the real estate industry.
