Stockdale Capital Partners, a vertically integrated real estate investment company headquartered in Los Angeles, has launched a new real estate lending platform. The aim is to originate US$300 million in loans over the next 12 months. This new platform will specialise in providing capital in the form of senior bridge loans, mezzanine capital, special situation investments, and note purchases across various asset classes and US regions.
Loan sizes will vary, but are expected to range from US$15 million to US$75 million. A particular focus will be placed on office, life science, and hospitality assets, according to a statement. The news was first reported by Commercial Mortgage Alert.
Leadership and Strategy
Stockdale Capital Partners has appointed Alec Maki as Senior Vice President of Credit Investments. Maki spent the past seven years at Fortress Investment Group, where he specialised in structuring real estate loans. He will work closely with his former colleague from Fortress, Chase Jensen, who now serves as Managing Director of Acquisitions at Stockdale.
Alec Maki commented that by leveraging the company's vertically integrated operational expertise across various asset classes, transactions can be underwritten more efficiently, risks assessed with greater conviction, and flexible capital solutions structured for borrowers in complex situations.
Daniel Michaels, co-founder and managing partner of Stockdale Capital Partners, emphasised that the company intends to utilise its expanding operational platform – the company manages US$4.5 billion in assets – to make credit investments with greater scale, increased concentration, and consistency. Michaels sees a considerable opportunity to build a leading real estate credit platform.
