Stockdale Capital Partners, a vertically integrated real estate investment firm based in Los Angeles, has launched a new real estate lending platform. The company aims to provide $300m in financing over the coming 12 months. The lending platform is designed to deploy capital in the form of senior bridge loans, mezzanine debt, special situations, and note purchases across various asset classes and US regions.

Loan sizes will vary but are expected to range from $15m to $75m. According to a statement, office, life sciences, and hospitality assets will be prioritised. The news was first reported by Commercial Mortgage Alert. Stockdale Capital Partners has brought in Alec Maki, who spent the last seven years in real estate lending at Fortress Investment Group, for the position of Senior Vice President of Credit Investments.

Leadership and Strategy of the New Platform

Alec Maki will work closely with Chase Jensen, a former colleague from Fortress and now Managing Director of Acquisitions at Stockdale. Maki stated that by leveraging the vertically integrated operational expertise across various asset classes, the company can evaluate transactions more efficiently, assess risks with greater conviction, and structure flexible capital solutions for borrowers in complex situations.

Daniel Michaels, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Stockdale, emphasised that the company intends to utilise its constantly expanding operating base, which manages $4.5bn in assets. This is to facilitate debt investments with greater scale, focus, and consistency. Michaels sees an enormous opportunity to build a leading real estate lending platform.

Key Lending Focus Areas

  • Senior bridge loans
  • Mezzanine debt
  • Special situation investments
  • Note purchases
