Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is expanding its presence in the Netherlands with the opening of the TRYP by Wyndham The Hague Scheveningen. The hotel, which combines historic architecture with a contemporary design concept, addresses the year-round demand for leisure and business tourism on the North Sea coast. Operations are managed by Proper Hotel Groep, a long-standing franchise partner of Wyndham, which already manages the Ramada by Wyndham The Hague Scheveningen.
The property is strategically located close to the beach and offers good connections to The Hague city centre. The city of The Hague, as the seat of the Dutch parliament, the Royal House, and international organisations such as the United Nations, generates approximately 2.9 million overnight guests annually. The destination's appeal is determined by a combination of promenade, gastronomy, cultural institutions, and its coastal location, attracting various guest segments such as beach holidaymakers, city tourists, and 'bleisure' guests.
The hotel is housed in a building from the 1960s, located in the protected part of Scheveningen. An extensive renovation preserved the original architectural identity while integrating the brand-typical design language of TRYP by Wyndham. The aim was to create a balanced spatial concept that prioritises comfort, functionality, and a clear guest experience. The interior design uses natural textures, warm sandy tones, and light-flooded rooms that establish a connection to the coastal landscape.
Björn van Lith, General Manager, emphasised that the transformation preserved the historic character of the building while meeting modern standards. The 90 redesigned rooms, spread across six floors, are available in Smart, Twin, Double, and Superior categories, complemented by family rooms with bunk beds. The hotel also features wellness areas with a fitness club, sauna, experience shower, and steam bath. A breakfast restaurant and a lobby bar complete the gastronomic offerings. For events, three meeting rooms are available, including the Sunset Room with its own bar and a 100 square-metre room for up to 100 people.
Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, highlighted that the TRYP by Wyndham The Hague Scheveningen embodies the brand's 'Powered by the City' approach. The combination of its coastal location and good connections allows guests to explore the city from a local perspective. Given the increasing demand for slow travel and new city tourism destinations, the hotel represents a strategic market entry for Wyndham in the Netherlands. The hotel's location, approximately 30 kilometres from Rotterdam The Hague Airport and 38 kilometres from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, positions it for both national and international guests.
The building, originally opened in 1927 as the “Badhotel”, will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year. With this opening, Wyndham now operates its fifth hotel in the Netherlands. The portfolio here includes the brands Ramada by Wyndham, Vienna House by Wyndham, and Trademark Collection by Wyndham. All hotels in the Netherlands and worldwide are part of the Wyndham Rewards® programme.
