1912 Hotels is continuing its growth trajectory in Northern Europe and has secured the Hotel Indigo Kvarnholmen. This project is located in one of Stockholm's prominent waterfront areas. The future hotel will be operated under the Hotel Indigo brand in cooperation with IHG Hotels & Resorts.
The project's location is in the Kvarnholmen district, a developing waterfront quarter in eastern Stockholm. In recent years, Kvarnholmen has evolved into a significant development area within the Swedish capital. It is characterised by its industrial history, Scandinavian architecture, and immediate waterfront location, which combines urban life with local character.
The hotel will comprise approximately 232 rooms across an area of about 11,000 square metres and will be situated directly at the entrance to Stockholm's harbour. The planned opening is scheduled for 2029. This undertaking is among the significant lifestyle hotel developments within 1912 Hotels' Nordic pipeline.
Facilities and Brand Concept
The establishment will offer a restaurant and bar concept, wellness and leisure areas, as well as conference facilities. Furthermore, diverse communal and meeting spaces are planned. Features include a rooftop pool with a terrace and water views, a spa and fitness area, and a green inner courtyard designed to serve as a meeting point.
Hotel Indigo is established as a neighbourhood brand in the hotel sector. Each property under the brand is individually designed and adapts the characteristics of its respective location. With over 325 hotels open and planned worldwide, the brand is one of the dynamic lifestyle concepts in the international hotel market.

Audun Lekve, CEO of 1912 Hotels, described the signing of the lease for Hotel Indigo Kvarnholmen as an important milestone for the company's continued expansion in Northern Europe. He emphasised that the hotel project would distinguish itself through its unique waterfront location, a strong local identity, and a high-quality lifestyle offering, and announced the collaboration with IHG for its realisation.

The attractive waterfront location, proximity to the city centre, and the distinctive character of the district create the conditions for a hotel designed to appeal to international travellers and local guests alike. Lekve added that the project is a cornerstone of the strategy to develop hospitality destinations in selected European markets and to strengthen their presence in Scandinavia.
