Balcony, a provider of property data systems for county administrations, recently announced that the property value and number of parcels on its Keystone platform for digitising US counties have nearly doubled since early 2026. The company, founded in 2021 and based in Hoboken, New Jersey, has seen accelerated adoption of its platform, which now represents county partnerships encompassing over USD 400 billion in property value and more than 600,000 supported parcels. This marks a significant increase from approximately USD 243 billion in property value and 318,000 parcels at the beginning of the year.

Mike McAteer, Balcony's Chief Operating Officer, stated that this growth signals nationwide adoption by governments seeking to modernise their land data collection tools and systems. He emphasised that Balcony provides these tools to enable counties to offer the best possible service to taxpayers and property data users. This demonstrates the existing interest from counties in modernising their land administration systems.

Direct Cooperation and Data Collection

McAteer largely attributed Balcony's success to its method of interaction with county governments. He explained that the company works directly with counties to access their data, rather than sourcing data from third parties. This direct collaboration enables counties to utilise existing data and break down silos between their internal teams. A key advantage here is the consolidation and analysis of data, which improves efficiency and service quality.

The necessity for counties to digitise their property data even surprised Balcony, according to McAteer. The company observes demand from large and small, urban and rural areas concerning land registries. Balcony expects growth to continue, as potentially over 3,000 counties could utilise the company's services.

Efficiency Gains for Administrations and Citizens

Alexander McGee, Chief Business Officer at Balcony, explained that every county office has to answer the same questions daily from residents, other departments, title companies, and lenders. He elaborated that Keystone indexes records in the way offices actually work, so answers take seconds instead of hours. By connecting the systems counties already use, the clerk's office retains sovereignty over the data. As a result, the records ultimately work for them and for everyone who relies on them.

  • Direct data access in cooperation with counties, not via third parties.
  • Consolidation and analysis of property data to increase efficiency.
  • Adaptation to office workflows for rapid information provision.
  • Retention of data sovereignty by county administration.
