L.K. Comstock, an electrical engineering firm specialising in transit rail systems, has signed a lease for 13,566 square feet at 55 Prospect Street, part of the Dumbo Heights office and mixed-use complex. This is according to information obtained by Commercial Observer.
The duration of the lease and the rent amount were not disclosed. However, the average asking rent for office space in Brooklyn's Dumbo neighbourhood was $53 per square foot in May, according to data from The New York Times. L.K. Comstock will occupy space on the third and eighth floors of 55 Prospect Street, one of several interconnected buildings on the Dumbo Heights Campus.
The Dumbo Heights Campus is a joint venture between RFR and Kushner Companies. Other buildings on the campus include 77 Sands Street and 117 Adams Street. This represents a new location for L.K. Comstock; the company's website lists the corporate headquarters of its subsidiary, RailWorks Corporation, as 5 Penn Plaza. The new 55 Prospect Street location will serve as a satellite office for a nearby infrastructure project.
Attractive Location for Infrastructure Projects
Ben Waller of ABS Partners Real Estate, who represented the landlord alongside Daria Ghasemi and Zoe Snow, commented in a statement. He said they were able to secure this tenant due to the immediate proximity to the subway lines the company would be working on, as well as the turn-key, move-in ready space on campus. Joe Gervino and Alexis Odgers of Avison Young represented the tenant in the transaction.
The Dumbo Heights Campus is a 750,000 square foot development featuring office space, dining, and retail, located between the Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge.
