The PropTech company metr has successfully completed a Series B financing round, acquiring growth capital of approximately EUR 10.5 million. In the course of this financing round, metr gained SBG-Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH as a new investor. Furthermore, well-known existing investors such as Kachel GmbH, a subsidiary of WIKA Alexander Wiegand SE & Co. KG, IBB Capital GmbH, BRAWO Capital GmbH, and Next Big Thing AG participated repeatedly in the capital injection. Existing business angels also contributed to the financing.
This financial success follows a period of significant company growth. metr recorded a revenue increase of over 80 percent in the 2025 financial year compared to the previous year, and achieved a Net Retention Rate of more than 140 percent in the same period. The company currently serves over 80 clients from the residential property, asset management, and corporate real estate segments. Decisive factors for this investment decision were the demonstrably strong key figures, the established product-market fit, the existing technology, and the recognised market potential.
The newly acquired capital is strategically important for metr. It will primarily be used for the further development of the technological base, the expansion of the operational infrastructure, and the progressive scaling of business operations. A key component of this strategy is the establishment of a new hub in Saxony. This hub is intended to significantly contribute to optimising supply chains and enable more intensive customer support. The company's long-term goal is to achieve a leading position as a European platform for managing energy-efficient existing buildings.
metr offers an AI-based platform that links both aspects, which is significant for property owners and portfolio holders in view of rising energy costs, increasing regulatory requirements, and the depreciation of inefficient buildings. Universal connectivity to existing heating systems enables a reduction in energy consumption, an improvement in energy efficiency classes, and long-term safeguarding of property values. This can be achieved without extensive, costly renovation measures.
Dr. Franka Birke, co-founder and CEO of metr, interpreted the Series B financing as a clear mandate for the coming years. She emphasised that this financing round creates the conditions to take metr to a new level, further scale the platform, expand operational excellence, and lay the foundation for international expansion. The renewed investment by existing partners and the acquisition of SBG as a new partner confirmed the chosen course and the company's long-term growth potential.
Frank Tappert, Managing Director of SBG – Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, highlighted metr's potential for Saxony as a business location. He stated that metr combines innovative technology with a compelling business model and addresses a market with considerable growth potential. Furthermore, he expressed pleasure at the expansion of the company's presence in Leipzig, which represents a clear commitment to Saxony as a hub of innovation.
Alexander Wiegand, CEO of WIKA Alexander Wiegand SE & Co. KG, commented that the digitalisation and optimisation of existing buildings will gain importance in the coming years. He attested to metr's technological competence and innovative strength to sustainably shape this market. Since the completion of the financing round, Gregory Pitl, formerly Director Innovation & Technology at PATRIZIA, has been supporting the company as the first external advisory board member with his expertise in organisational development, growth strategy, and finance.
