Project developer and asset and property manager Midstad has acquired the iconic Carsch-Haus in Düsseldorf. The seller was Central Group. The transaction, in which Midstad represented an investor, stipulates that the company will coordinate the ongoing construction work, which also includes the redesign of Heinrich-Heine-Platz.

This central city centre location is to be redeveloped into a future-oriented mixed-use property. The planned uses include retail, fitness areas, gastronomic offerings, and hotels. These measures aim to functionally diversify the area and increase its long-term attractiveness.

Ensemble Development to Strengthen the City Centre

The development of Carsch-Haus is part of a broader strategy. In conjunction with the adjacent property at Kasernenstraße 6, a coherent urban ensemble is to be created. The intention is to sustainably strengthen Düsseldorf's city centre through a resilient, mixed-use quarter. The planning committee of the City of Düsseldorf has already approved the corresponding preliminary building application, which administratively supports the realisation of this project.

With this acquisition, Midstad aims to uniformly manage the transformation of the central city centre location and fully exploit the area's potential. Through the integrated development of Carsch-Haus and the property at Kasernenstraße 6, an adaptation to the changing requirements of modern urban centres is to be achieved, which will permanently solidify the attractiveness of Heinrich-Heine-Platz.

Legal Counsel for the Acquisition

Legal advice for the acquisition was provided by an interdisciplinary team from Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner. The law firm, specialising in real estate transactions, operated from its offices in Düsseldorf and Freiburg. The lead counsel was Düsseldorf partner Gregor Lamla.
