he summer home buying and selling season is gaining momentum in North Texas, with Tarrant County experiencing the largest increase in active listings for April 2025 - a 27.3% year-over-year jump, according to the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors.
Despite the surge in inventory, prices remain steady. The median home price in Tarrant County was $354,000 in April, a 1.1% increase from last year. In Fort Worth, the median price came in at $338,000 - up 3.5% year-over-year - even as active listings rose by 31.5% and closed sales declined by 12.9%. Homes in Fort Worth sold within an average of 54 days, with a 3.8-month inventory level, indicating a seller's market.
"The Fort Worth region is experiencing more housing stability than in recent years," said Paul Epperley, president of the Tarrant County-area Realtor association. "With increased inventory and greater affordability, it's an encouraging time for first-time buyers and growing families."
