Yonkers police sergeant, Michael Quatrocci, was suspended without pay by the department while on medical leave. The suspension took effect February 14 and will last until March 15. Quatrocci has been out of work since contracting COVID in March 2020 and has been collecting a tax-free city paycheck while on disability.
The police department's medical-leave policy prohibits outside employment while on sick, injured, or disabled status. However, public records show that Quatrocci worked as a real estate agent for Houseabilities LLC, representing clients in recent home purchases in Mahopac and Eastchester.
A 2023 bill introduced in Albany aimed to make COVID a "line-of-duty" injury, making Quatrocci eligible for an accidental disability pension. The legislation was sponsored by Assemblyman Matt Slater and state Sen. Pete Harckham, but it did not pass out of committee.
Quatrocci joined the Yonkers Police Department in 2006 and was promoted to sergeant in 2019. He earned a total of $641,000 from 2021 through 2024, plus an additional $150,000 in 2020. According to Senate records, Quatrocci had an impressive police record, calling in sick only twice in his career and making numerous arrests.
