The long-established non-profit organisation Graham Windham will be relocating its headquarters to Riverside Drive. The organisation, which specialises in children and families and whose origins date back over two centuries, has signed a five-year lease for 9,833 square feet at the Interchurch Center, located at 475 Riverside Drive in Morningside Heights, Upper Manhattan.
The newly renovated office space will be situated on the 14th floor of the 19-storey building. The asking rent was $29 per square foot. The move from the previous address at 423 West 127th Street is planned for August 2026 and involves a relocation of approximately four blocks south.
Graham Windham was founded in 1806 as the Orphan Asylum Society of the City of New York by Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, wife of Alexander Hamilton, along with Isabella Graham, Joanna Bethune and Sarah Hoffman. Today, the organisation offers a wide range of services, including foster care placement, adoption services, therapy and family programmes.
Stephen Powers, Alexander Smith and Isabella Marcellino from Open Impact Real Estate brokered the deal on behalf of Graham Windham, while the Interchurch Center was represented in-house. Alexander Smith emphasised that Graham Windham sought a space that reflected its mission and provided staff with a modern, collaborative workplace, as well as access to a community of like-minded organisations. The Interchurch Center fulfilled all requirements and created an environment where the organisation can continue to serve New York City’s children and families, whilst becoming part of one of the city's most established communities of mission-driven non-profits.
Opened in 1960, the Interchurch Center operates a 600,000 square foot office and community area dedicated to non-profit organisations. The historic building, currently undergoing modernisation, features conference centres, a cafeteria, a library, an art gallery and a soon-to-be-completed wellness centre.
Other tenants of the Interchurch Center include Bank Street College of Education, Columbia University and Children's Health Fund. Robert J. Bolton Jr., Executive Director and President of the Interchurch Center, commented that this partnership is more than just a lease agreement; it reflects a shared commitment to impact, service and collaboration. He further stated that Graham Windham represents an enormous asset to the community as the Interchurch Center continues to be developed into a hub where mission-driven organisations can network, innovate and serve.
