This year's Sustainability Radar by WISAG Facility Service Holding SE focuses on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the sustainable transformation of the real estate sector. The survey, which is now available online, examines the potential applications of AI to increase the sustainability of real estate across all value creation stages.
Since 2011, WISAG's Sustainability Radar has annually analysed trends and developments concerning the sustainable positioning of real estate. For the current, 14th edition, the study undergoes substantial further development: a first-time cooperation with the IREBS Real Estate Academy enables the integration of new scientific perspectives and strengthens the study's methodology.
Expanded Focus and Scientific Expertise
At the same time, WISAG is expanding the thematic scope of the Sustainability Radar. While previous surveys primarily focused on facility management, the study now covers all real estate-related topics with a sustainability connection. This allows for a more comprehensive examination of the entire real estate value chain in the context of sustainability and digitisation.
The survey centres on specific questions regarding the use and impact of AI. For example, it investigates the current implementation of AI applications along the real estate value chain, as well as their potential in strategic real estate management and operational building management. Another key area is the sustainability effects already realised through AI, identified by the study participants.
- —Identification of current fields of application for AI in the real estate industry.
- —Analysis of the potential of various AI applications in strategic management.
- —Evaluation of AI in operational building management with regard to sustainability.
- —Recording of sustainability effects already achieved through AI implementations.
The IREBS Real Estate Academy plays a crucial role in the conception, execution, and evaluation of the online survey. Its scientific expertise contributes significantly to refining the questions and generating new thematic impulses. Through the IREBS network, a broader participation of experts from the real estate sector is also achieved, which enhances the validity and significance of the study results.
The online survey for the 14th WISAG Sustainability Radar remains open to participants until 20 July 2026.
