hopal: A former constable turned builder in Madhya Pradesh is under investigation by multiple central agencies for alleged corruption. The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), and Lokayukta are probing the case, each focusing on different aspects.The investigation began after searches at properties linked to Saurabh Sharma, a former state transport department constable, yielded assets worth Rs 7.98 crore, including cash and silver. Further, 52 kg gold and Rs 11 crore in cash were found in an abandoned SUV parked on the outskirts of Bhopal, leading to a separate investigation by IT officials.The ED has filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Sharma and his associate Chetan Gaur. Sharma is believed to have fled to Dubai. The DRI is tracing the origins of the unaccounted gold, adding another layer to the probe.Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta's SPE has intensified its investigation, issuing summons to Sharma, his family members, and associates, including Gaur. Sharma's journey from a constable to a real estate magnate is under scrutiny, with allegations that he used corrupt means to amass assets, including setting up a school and hotel in the name of relatives and associates.Documents from income tax raids suggest Rs 100 crore in alleged transactions involving transport department officials across 52 districts, pointing to systemic corruption within the department. The case has sparked a political row, with former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh demanding a judicial probe under the supervision of the Madhya Pradesh High Court's Chief Justice.
