PSG Equity, a growth equity firm, has announced the final close of its third European fund, PSG Europe III. The total committed capital amounts to over EUR 4.4 billion, reaching the previously set hard cap. This fund thus surpasses the volume of its predecessor fund, which closed in October 2023 with EUR 2.6 billion. The significant demand reflects the support from both existing and new investors.

Capital commitments for the primarily Europe-focused fund came from a diversified investor base. These include sovereign pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals. With PSG Europe III, PSG Equity continues its established strategy of partnering with European software and technology companies to foster their growth into pan-European market leaders with global reach. The focus is on companies that leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to redefine enterprise software or operate as AI-native businesses.

Strategic Direction and Market Assessment

PSG Equity sees Europe at the beginning of a new phase of software innovation. This development is driven by the increasing adoption of AI, a growing demand for trusted European technology providers, and an intensified focus on digital sovereignty. The firm is convinced that these structural trends present significant opportunities for software providers who can combine deep industry expertise with a European-focused infrastructure and proprietary data capabilities, while simultaneously benefiting from the influence of AI.

PSG's engagement in the European market began in 2019 with the establishment of a dedicated team. This team currently comprises 83 employees, including investors as well as software and technology experts, who work closely with the management teams of portfolio companies. The main headquarters of the European team is in London, complemented by an additional office in Paris. To date, PSG has made 43 platform investments in Europe, realised 12 (partial) exits, and completed 98 add-on acquisitions. The portfolio companies are present in 24 European cities. Recent exits include Sellsy, Signaturit, N2F, Artur’in, Hornetsecurity, and Mapal.

Peter Wilde, Chairman at PSG, underscored the significance of the broad support for PSG Europe III, which confirms PSG's global platform and the firm's consistent value creation approach. Mark Hastings, Chief Executive Officer at PSG, highlighted the dynamic phase of collaboration with software scale-ups in Europe and emphasised that AI will significantly expand opportunities in enterprise software and accelerate the pace of innovation. Dany Rammal, Managing Director and Head of Europe at PSG, described the closing of PSG Europe III as an important milestone that reflects confidence in the dynamism of the European software and technology market. He noted that digital sovereignty is gaining increasing importance for clients, offering Europe an opportunity to produce internationally competitive software champions.
